Which you have to respect because, you know, reasons.

What easier to way to keep the message consistent than to only have it come from one mouth? I mean, come on Nik, think of the children!

That's crazy Dubas for ya, always going rogue when there's a mic in front of his face.

Gotta watch out for those truth-bombs he keeps dropping.

I actually don't have a problem with the policy.  I'd like to hear more from Leaf management, but I understand that they're just trying to keep the ship tight while they go through a pretty tough time.  The way this Toronto media twists questions and quotes around sans context, I can understand them trying to avoid that kind of crap so that they can focus on a pretty tough job ahead over the next 3 years.

Dubas doesn't have much spot-light media experience yet, and maybe they're just trying to shelter him a bit...I don't know, maybe he even prefers it that way, even if some fans don't.

I mean, whenever Dubas would talk to the media all you'd hear is "Oh, that was enlightening" and "Boy, Dubas seems smart". Better to nip that in the bud. After all it's not about glory boy Dubas. It's ABOUT THE TEAM!

Ah well. It was nice having what seemed like a smart, well run hockey team for a couple of months.

To be fair, we still might. It's just that some of their outward policies are kind of archaic. They could still be doing the important stuff like a smart, well run team. Or, am I being way too optimistic here?

Beats me. But I was speaking fairly literally there. Regardless of what's going on beneath the surface, it was nice just having a team that at least seemed smart.

It's pretty commonplace for companies to have PR departments that have muzzles on most of the companies' staff, including management.  It's not archaic.

Also, what's this about him being in media jail? Has Lou muzzled our wunderkind?

One of his policies is that assistants (coaches or management) don't talk to media. I thought maybe that wouldn't apply to Marlies-related information as Dubas is their GM, but appears not.

Which you have to respect because, you know, reasons.

To be fair, Dubas was going to be allowed to talk to the media but he shaved at 0330 AM one morning and when Lou saw him still working at his desk at 1945 he had a bit of a 5o'clock shadow so Lou put him in timeout.  Because hockey = military indoctrination otherwise you can't possibly buy into a team approach.

I think I'd buy it more if I was actually viewing Lou as being a definite improvement over Shanahan-Hunter-Dubas.

Lamoriello: See, the thing is Kyle, that if you keep talking to the media people might start to view you as an individual and we can't have that. The philosophy I live by is that the name on the front of the jersey is more important than the one on the back.

Dubas: But I don't wear a jersey.

Lamoriello: Which brings me to my newest rule...

Leafs management is like a box of shiny new toys, and Lou is that reinforced packing tape you can never tear through. I always hated that stuff.

Nylander with a pair of goals already tonight:

So Bertuzzi got 2 games for slew-footing while Carrick gets 3 games for 'physical abuse of an official.'

What the?  So Carrick gets 3 games for trying to pull away from a linesman and that's worse than slew-footing?
