Canada's game against Finland takes on massive proportions. Win in regulation and they get a quarter final match-up with winner of Aut-Slo

If Cda loses to Finland in regulation, they drop to No. 4 and likely face Russia, the No. 5 seed, in the quarter finals.

So a pretty big game. Not too pleased about Price starting and St. Louis/Subban sitting.

I'm really surprised Price gets the start today. Hopefully he has a great game and makes the decision a hard one for the next round.

USA Hockey @usahockey
Phil Kessel scores the first Olympic hat trick for the U.S. since John LeClair in 2002.

Chris Johnston @reporterchris
Phil Kessel has a hat trick in Sochi. He leads the tournament in scoring with seven points.

Jeff Simmons @realjeffsimmons
Imagine how good the Bruins would be with Kessel. They really blew that one.

All good.  GO LEAFS GO!  :D

So, barring a large (7+ goals) blowout victory for either side, I believe the QF match up for Canada would be:

Regulation win, winner of SLO-AUT
Regulation loss, winner of RUS-NOR
OT Win, winner of LAT-SUI
OT Loss, winner of RUS-NOR

Glad the Leafs have signed him for "only" 8M. I believe he may get even a little bit better.

Oh man, after the season he's had, if he hit the open market this summer, he might have been looking at $9M+ per.

I'm not 100% convinced the puck actually hit Nash's stick at all - and, if it did, it just barely glanced off of it - but, that's probably the right call. Err on the side of caution and all.

I don't think Nash touched it either. But as soon as it's sitting on top of the net, the play should be blown dead, right?

no goal. oh well. It's a psychological goal for them anyway.

I don't understand starting Price.  I really don't.

Let's not be hasty. He may be terrific.

I don't think it's necessarily a negative having Price in; he may indeed be terrific. The only thing I don't get is the decision making process of choosing him over Luongo.
