Schenn 3x2.75 to Nashville

Good for Luke after playing on a lot of 1 year deals but I don't get what Nashville is doing.  They gutted a bunch of talent to overpay Luke Schenn?

ROR getting just $2mil more than Kampf is... ugh...

4.5 for ROR seems reasonable.  If that wasn't something we could offer our depth is going to be garbage this year

Dreger said term and money wasn't an issue but ROR decided to look outside of Toronto, not sure what to read into that? Wasn't happy with whatever role Leafs envisioned for him?

Yeh that's a problem though too.  Something is rotten.  Lots of free agents still but the complete inaction from a Treliving is not endearing him to me right now

ROR looked like he was getting cooked.  I see him falling off quickly with all the mileage on his body like Muzzin did.

The money is fine.  4 years would have been 2 years too long though.

He mentioned on Overdrive that what they where doing in the playoffs wasn't working and there was an unwillingness in the room, either the players or the coach, to try doing things a different way.

To me it reads as though Keefe was dogmatic and unwilling to make the changes RoR was suggesting. When it became clear Keefe was back, RoR went elsewhere.

I don't know, I'm thinking Treliving wasn't willing to put that money and term on an aging player. Can't believe all the things you hear.

Could also be that ROR didn't want to wait and Treliving is waiting for Matthews and Nylander to be straight before spending 24-25 season cap dollars.

This is my take too.

Schenn deal is just insane.

I think its unfair to characterize not signing certain players as inaction. Obviously a lot of work is being done behind the scenes as is always the case on July 1.

Yeah. Lack of success doesn?t mean lack of effort or action. It?s not like Treliving was sitting on his hands all day. The Leafs either weren?t offering the right contracts or players made other choices for any number of reasons.

I wouldn't be surprised if Toronto was only offering $3.5mx4 or something like that.

I think ROR took the most money being offered, simply as that.

I wouldn't be surprised if they matched that offer.
