Official Ottawa Senators Thread

Kind of a dirt bag move by the Uber driver to release that, I'm sure players trash people all the time when they think they have privacy. Still though, I'm quite enjoying this

When I'm in a cab being driven by someone I don't know is not a time I typically think I have privacy.

Ottawa has a unique knack for being tawdry and ridiculous at the same time.  From the owner banning Leafs fans to Spartacus (or whatever the hell his name is) reading his script written on his wrist, to now this.

Nothing there that isn't typical of a workplace with low morale. Yeah the players should be smarter about where they say that kind of stuff but even if they aren't saying it they're all thinking it.

I will say that it was a dick move by the Uber driver to release it for sure, but yeah they still should have known better. Unless this guy was James Bond the dash camera was probably in plain sight. And I know a lot of uber drivers who do use camera's often have a sign on the door telling their passengers that.

Matt Duchene wants out of Colorado and now this... people will happily have him but he needs to be sheltered and coddled.

I don't get it. Why is it a "dick move" by the Uber driver to release it but not for the Citizen or any of the guys on Twitter to report on it? The very nature of any sort of investigative press, even on a trivial subject like sports, is trying to uncover people's privacy if the results are deemed newsworthy. Especially if it's something they'd prefer to keep quiet.

I mean once something like this is out there it's tough for other not to talk about it. But the guy posting (or selling, I'm not sure exactly how the video got out) is essentially like someone posting or selling tabloid pictures/videos as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, I suppose I just feel like that absolves us of a collective responsibility here. Like in the example there right, I'd agree that papparazzi are sort of jerks but I equally have scorn for the tabloids themselves and people who read tabloids.

Man, in response, it would be so awesome if the social media department of some ballsy NHL team now "leaked" a deliberately and obviously fake video of a bunch of their players in a cab lavishing praise on their coaches, fellow players and management.

What the Uber guy did was apparently illegal.  I wonder if it was him that leaked it though or someone he knew.  This type of thing isn't exactly worth risking your financial livelihood on.

I wonder if Ottawa has bad coaches intentionally so they can tank harder.

What part is illegal?

"God, I just love going to practice and working on the PK every day so much with coach Smith."

"I hope we get to do a video review again as well tomorrow, it's so fun."

I don't know the legality of recording someone in your own car...is that not legal if you haven't made them aware?

I know the Uber I drove in recently had a sign that said something along the lines of "security camera recording", but I don't know if you need to have a sign telling people that for it to be legal.

Speaking of that, is Uber or Lyft the best deal in GTA lately?
