Official Ottawa Senators Thread

They talk about speed and the bigger ice surface yet leave Yandle off the roster...

So? Not taking one player because of his lack of speed doesn't mean they're obligated to take the fastest possible team with no consideration for anything else. Looking at previous teams that have won on the bigger ice surfaces the idea that you would emphasize speed among forwards and all-around play from defensemen, which would explain both Ryan and Yandle, seems to be a pretty sound one.

A bunch of very well respected hockey minds just happen to disagree with you.

Not a bunch - 3....the rest of the hockey world pretty much agrees with me on both accounts.

It was pretty clearly more than 3 as the management team was at least 6 and the coaching staff was 4. And if by "the rest of the hockey world" you mean Ottawa Sun columnists and bloggers on Twitter, I'll remain pretty skeptical.

Well, if they can't be convinced by the impact he's had on the Sens and the hole he's left on the Ducks, it must just be them politics, right?

If the past 6 years have taught us anything it's that Burke is flawless in his hockey decision making and never ever has had an axe to grind with anybody in the business. Nor is he petty and never grandstands. But maybe he really did ask Ryan how to spell INTENSITY over the summer and Ryan flubbed it up.

Ooof. You hit me right where it hurts. My devotion to Brian Burke.

He didn't make the call, chief. It doesn't sound like anyone wanted him.

Not to tempt the hockey Gods but it's crazy what a 4 game winning streak does for a team standings wise in the East...game on bitches!

A few quick easy things to get out of the way here.
Using the expression "person x can't spell word x" is understood by all to mean that that person isn't someone who uses/does/makes/works/whatevers that particular word. Stop trying to make that bigger than it is.
If you actually take the time to read the article Burke is almost the only person pushing to put Ryan on the team. The others didn't want him.
In the whole multi page article he said two things against Ryan that I could see, the one you mentioned and that he wished to go back and pick another player at the draft ahead of him. That's all... however! He specifically went out of his way time and again to try and bring the kid.

Seriously... people in the tech industry have a common saying about customers with stupid questions about how to articles. RTFA. Means read the fucking article. Which I honestly think you didn't do properly.

After they've been green and before they're brown, yes.  :P

EDIT: apparently I'm pretty late with that one  :-[
