What I don't like seeing is how turd players can have more votes than anyone else.  Karlson is ranked 1st?  There are 6 Leafs d-men better than him.  And Rat Boy is not capable of carrying Kessel's cup so I don't even know why he has more votes than Kessel.

It's all-star ballot stuffing. It should rank around 1,292,433rd on the list of things you care about between the local politics of the Sidaryo region of Uzbekistan and the hot new releases on the auto-harp scene.

Hey! Don't bad mouth the auto harp!

Especially with Polly Jean Harvey breaking it out last year...

The game is in Ottawa, and just like Habs fans did when the game was in Montreal, Sens fans are stuffing the ballot boxes to the extent that they're capable of doing so. It's an obvious flaw in the way the league generates the rosters for this meaningless exhibition game, but . . . well, that's about it, really.

Funny enough, I think I read on nhl.com that currently he would be in the starting lineup for the East. Hope he gets nominated captain and picks Ovechkin last ;-)

Or Phil takes a picture of the All Star team for Alex after Ovechkin's left off the All Star team ...  ;D

Ovechkin currently sits tied for 53rd in NHL scoring among forwards. 16 Left wingers have put up more points. Backstrom deserves the nod from his team before Alex does (based on play this season)

Based on his play so far, he doesn't look like an All Star to me.

... of course, selection to an allstar team is not always based on current play ... OV will be there for sure.

Name them.

We have a lot of excellent defencemen off all ages throughout our system. Far more then that of Ottawa but with that said, I don't think there isn't one of them I wouldn't trade for Karlson. Take out the cap implications I might say Dion but really, Karlson is going to be a superstar.

I'm not as confident in his two way game but offensively, no question, he's special.

From what I've seen so far from Rundblad, Cowen, Lehner & Greening, they've got a good collection of kids proving themselves in the NHL.

Not bad and again, what do I know? I just like our collection better... but I think Karlson is the best in both groups.

Who's leading all defensemen in scoring again?

I think most reasonable people would agree that Karlsson deserves to be at the game, probably even as a starter. It's Alfredsson's vote totals that are really out of whack with the way he's played.

Sure - I'm not advocating the ballot stuffing but like you said it is what it is. It's Alfie - it's not like it's Chris Neil...

Back to ye olde question... Is the game for guys having the best year presently or for guys who have been top performers over a number of years? If it's the latter, hard to do with Alfredsson being there.

Being that it's a yearly event, it should be for the guys having the best years.

I'm fine with that... Though I'm not sure we're going to see either of Lupul or Michalek there.  :-\

Not really related but watcing those nieuwendyk clips again, MAN, was that ever a loud game - people were screaming the entire time. Whens the last time the ACC was like that? Intense...

those were the days :(

Being as the game is a great big corporate wank-fest where nobody really cares I think it probably should be about crafting the strongest event/narrative or whatever.

So stick Steve Downie, Chris Pronger, Milan Lucic, Chris Neil, Dan Carcillo, Sean Avery and a few other hated players on one side, and a bunch of heavy-weights on the other side?

I know it's a joke but while that would legitimately appeal to some of the die-hards that would probably fall flat on the attendees of an all-star game.

Maybe we should stuff the votes to have an all Leafs starting lineup just to piss off the turd fans in their own arena.
