Phil Kessel

I don't think QOC is perfect, and really there's not a big difference in Kessel/Seguin for it, but I think it almost always lines up with what you see with your eyes on the ice in regards to players opponents.  I think it is especially true with a player like Grabovski.  Of course, you can go deeper into the rabbit hole of QOC on sites like hockeyanalysis.com, but I'm not there yet.

My posting of the comparative stats was not necessarily to say Kessel is way better than Seguin, obviously he's got a couple of extra years experience. However, the Kessel trade was NOT the big disaster it is often played out to be.

Well, if you can figure out a way to add Dougie Hamilton's skill set to Seguin's skill set and then do a comparison we may get a better idea.

It's not even in the same league as Rask/Raycroft

Exactly.  Rask is a #1 goalie and will be for years while Raycroft was crap, and is now playing in Italy.  Phil Kessel was a top 10 scorer in the league last year, and 2 points out of the top 10 so far this season.  Kessel will continue to be an NHLer for years and years which automatically makes the trade better than the Raycroft one.

Assuming those years and years will be with the LEafs.

Realistically he'll be here.  Unless the Leafs pull off some major trade with another star coming back there's no way they'll let him walk into UFA.

Just about the time Phil rediscovers his scoring touch with playoffs knocking on the door  :)

Everyone will judge him on this playoffs.  First time seeing him in the playoffs as a Leaf, if he has a big series / run he'll be hailed as a keeper.  If he has a terrible playoffs they'll be calls to trade him before his contract is up.  Fickle fans.

I'm confident he'll stay, but it's not a question of whether the Leafs "let him stay" or not. He has to want to stay.

Again, I'm confident he will, but if he gets to UFA status, he'll be listening to $7M+ offers from many teams.

Exactly. I don't think comparing Kessel to the players the Bruins drafted is the right way to judge that trade but if it is you can't do it without consideration given to Hamilton/Knight.

Two players are in the top 15 in both goals and assists during the past 2 NHL seasons: Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel.

8)

Playoffs.  As a Leaf.  Just like Zee mentioned.

(And BTW, full credit to him for playing a more complete game this season ... well, except for PP goal-scoring  8) 8) :o ....)

The Rask trade looks bad, but if they didn't make it, Rask would of ended up being rushed too soon to the NHL.  Behind a weak defense, he would of crumbled.
My biggest surprise with the Kessel trade has been the lack of available centers.  I can name allot more elite centers then RW's.
Kessel is a great key ingredient for a team.

Some day, hopefully before I die, the Kessel trade won't be brought up every month.

IF the Leafs can continue to build this team, win a Stanley Cup with Kessel on the team, then the trade will be said it was worth it.  Honestly that's the only way I can see people finally giving kudos to the trade (provided Boston doesn't win 4-5 Cups with their players they received from the Kessel deal)

I secretly hope for a 3-way knee-on-knee-on-knee collision between Seguin, Hamilton and Knight, leading to career ending injuries for all.

agreed with Frank.  Get over it, Kessel plays for us and is an elite player (can you imagine him with Sundin?). I could give a rats ass about Boston...time to move on. Its one for the ages to decide.
