Playoffs Round 1: Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins

Get well, Nylander. I hope it's not a serious issue.

Bowen made some interesting comments:

?The players can?t say it, but I will. Tonight?s crowd was very disappointing.?

?Get off your butts and stand up! They should have had the crowd in here from the last exhibition game. They were terrific,? he added.

Gee, maybe if you can afford playoff tickets you're not really Joe's type of fan? Old news, but interesting to here Bowen say it.

A quick check at ticketmaster and Bruins tickets for Game 5 go from 200-1,565. Game 4 tickets go from 427-2,499.

First time Nylander's practiced with the powerplay. Certainly a positive sign for his availability tomorrow.

Nylander actually speaking to the media. Again, a positive sign. The Leafs will likely keep his status under wraps until closer to game time tomorrow regardless though.

Better GM decisions (in hindsight)?

2017 Draft. Select Jeremy Swayman with the 110 pick instead of Ian Scott, who goes to the Bruins at 111. (Scott retires from hockey in 2022)

2018 Free agency. Don't sign Tavares and preserve the cap space.

2021 Free agency. Use SOME the cap space saved to resign Zach Hyman, the Toronto born player.

If we can only go back and redo some of these decisions. :)

I?m sure there are more missed opportunities than just these 3.

Oh well. What can ya do now, right ?

Hyman was horrible for the Leafs in the playoffs. Leafs took Scott as their goalie.  To bad injuries detailed what looked like a promising career.
Tavares what can you do.
No sense looking back tho, can't change it.

Zach Hyman? Mr 6 goals in 32 leafs playoff games?

I?m sorry but I?ll not put up with Hyman revisionist history. Absolutely no one would have predicted his output in Edmonton. And anyone who says they did are liars.

Absolutely nothing about Hyman said he was worth 5.5x8 when he became a UFA.

Hyman?s production is propped up by McDavid. McDavid could turn Calle Jarnkrok into a scorer.

I think he just became a more opportunistic player. Matthews and Marner were no slouches as linemates, even though his numbers weren?t as good as they are now. It?s easy to say it?s all because he?s playing with McDavid, but I think there?s more to it than just that.

Not taking anything away from Hyman?s efforts and growth in skill

Matthews and Marner just used him as a puck getter.

McDavid is using Hyman as a pinball bumper.

That?s a fair point

As Glen Sather once said "a fire hydrant could score 40 goals playing along side Wayne Gretzky"

Have all the geezers deferred to Mark Masters? Seems like he's asking 75%+ of the questions in a lot of scrums.

As they should. He?s better than all of them

I have no bias.
