Yes.  I might move Marincin up with one of them, actually.

Could do:

Rielly-Holl
Marincin-Barrie
Dermott-Ceci

That's not bad.  Dermott has been a bit shaky IMO, so putting him on the 3rd pairing for awhile is OK by me.

Yeah, it's partially too because I don't think Marincin and Ceci together would work.

Folks have been pumping Marincin's tires for years, and all he's proven in his body of work is that he's not an NHL defenceman while repeatedly passing through waivers. I'd wait a few games before starting the hype train.

Moving him up one pairing is a "hype train"?

Simply having him in the lineup is above his ceiling, so, yeah.

Barrie and Rielly were both 60% in possession and were on the ice for more goals for than against. Dermott and Ceci were both under 40% in possession and on for 3 goals against and none for. But it's the first duo that apparently screwed us tonight.

I think you mean "Ceci."

Nice..... ;D ;D :D

The winning goal could have been prevented if Marner would have started skating back as soon as the ranger player starting skating with the puck.

Situation awareness and that?s the biggest problem with this team.

Matthews was deep so Marner had to take Dangelo right from the get go and how hard is it to take away a pass on a 2-1. Isn?t that what D are taught. Give the shot take away the pass but 2-1 was Marners fault.

Marner didn't exactly play the GWG right, but I mean it's 3-on-3. It's literally designed for dueling odd-man rushes. Not something I'd get that worked up about. Glad we got a point despite Georgiev clearly out-goalie'ing Andersen.

4 straight games of 3 or more goals given up by Andersen.  That?s rough.

He was also nearing his 24 minutes of ice time to go on top of the nearly 25 he played last night. His tank being a little dry isn't entirely surprising.

Agree that Georgiev was the difference-maker...think there was at least one if not two that Anderssen would like back.

Don't back arguments with facts!

Reason I brought that up and it is not just tonight.
Bigger picture here is what I'm getting at.
problem I see with this team is playing without the puck.
Making the smart decisions, where to go, what opposing player to take etc etc.
We give up way too many good chances during a game and most of it is due to poor decisions without the puck.
Team struggles with it and has for a very long time.
Frustrating watching it. If you watch the replay as soon as Strome took the puck from Geiorgiev Mitch should have been on his high horse getting back but instead he was flat footed watching Strome. Stupid lazy play. Matthews should have been hustling back as well as soon as they lost possession.

I would say the 3rd goal he'd like back. The rest were grade a chances. Let's not forget he made some huge saves also to keep them in it. The penalty shot save was huge and he made 2 huge back to backs in the 3rd. Not a great game but not a clunker either.

In the last 7 games the leafs have gotten 13 of 14 points.  Really good hockey.  But they have given up 15 goals in the last 3 games.  That?s a problem.  Lucky to be getting points at that rate.

There?s always ?but?,  When there is any positivity with you.  Give it a rest dude
