Rangers @ Leafs - Dec. 28th, 7:00pm - CBC, Fan 590

That?s a bad goal.  Andersen has been off now too.  Shots off the right wing are Andersen?s kryptonite.  He can?t find the post.  Has to be a save.

Time to stop beating up on our Willie!

I get the narrative, but the issue with him has never been that he's incapable of playing a decent defensive game...only that periodically seems disinterested in doing so. Tonight and last night he's been great. The previous 2 or 3 games, not so much.

Excayly right but he's not the only one who falls in that category.

Haaaave you met Matthews and Marner?

Will need atleast 4 to win tonight.  They are playing with fire with their refusal to try at all on defense.

Wow Gerogiev.. Should've traded for him

Nylander is so dangerous on the PP when he's in charge of feeding.

Yeah, they're both occasionally guilty of it too...Matthews in particular for the first 20 games of the season. He's been a lot more engaged both mentally and physically since (roughly) Keefe took over. Lots of players have that issue...that's what separates the Crosbys of the world from the rest of the chaff.

I think if you were to take a page from Babcock's book and rank the Leafs' roster for "% of their shift that they are working their tails off" a guy like Hyman would be very near (or at) the top of that list. Willy would be in the bottom half if not bottom third based on his performance this season. I'm inclined to ignore last year completely from him due to the contract situation kind of messing up his whole season, but if you go back to 2017-18 I thought he was a much more consistent hard worker and helping to drive the line.
