I hope they don't let him make it though.  His peak is still probably 3C or the 3rd wheel on a stacked winger 2nd line but I'd like to give him some serious AHL time first. 

We already have too many forwards and losing guys to bad trades or waivers seems like a bad idea

Yeah, broadly I agree, but if he shows himself as one of the top 3 centres at camp, it'll be hard to deny him.

Especially if it allows them to move someone overpaid up front and have a little more cap flexibility.
