Interestingly, the wins column, the goals for column, and the goals against column all seem worse under Burke as compared to pre-Burke.
So, then, one needs to ask, what really has changed?

Andy007 said:I remember Ron Wilson's 1st press conference and the funny thing is that, while he did stress that the team might not be competetive right away and will have trouble scoring goals, he assured us they would be tight defensively and keep the puck out of the net....And their goals against ballooned to almost 300 lol.
It's like the team, much like a body rejecting an organ transplant, just completely rejected Wilson and Burke. I mean, how else can two people be so consistently colossally wrong about their projections

ONe would think there was some sort of rebuilding going on or something.

The implication was that he might not be coach when the Leafs were seriously challenging for a cup. There was no suggestion to the effect that Wilson would never take them to the playoffs. The fact that you (and others) seem to be claiming this is ludicrous and takes Burke/Wilson apologisim to a whole new level.
Optimus Reimer said:What I don't understand is there is not much difference between the teams pre-Burke and during Burke's reign. JFJ came across as being incompetent because of the transactions he made and the false expectations he had about the team. Burke is making just as bad transactions as JFJ did, and had higher expectations that turned out false.
How can a GM/coach pick someone to be captain, when that player turned out to be a dud? How can the GM extend the coach's contract, then fire him a few months after? With all the player movement on and off the team, the team has not got better, but worse. No matter what players come to the Leafs, some end up being dead weight, and the glaring weaknesses on the team have never been addressed.
I think Burke needs to go.
