In a contrast to all of the hockey stuff, what a great episode of TV with the Last of Us

Totally agree. Ep 3 was incredibly well done. I had no idea the series was going to be this good.

Check out HBO's Chernobyl too if you haven't already. HBO paired the guy behind that show (Craig Mazin) with the lead developer of the TLOU games (Neil Druckmann) to create/write this series.

One of the reasons I had sky-high expectations of this show (aside from just loving the games themselves) was having both of those guys in charge.

Couldn't agree more.  They took a decent amount of creative liberty with what went on with Chornobyl but the mini-series was fantastic.

Chernobyl is amongst my absolute favourite shows. I had no idea the main character was the son of Richard Harris, Marcus Aurelius in Gladiator.

This episode was totally not what I was expecting or an Avenue I anticipated the show going down. It was incredibly affecting and incredibly well done.

So a buddy of mine said to me a couple of years ago "Hey, you grew up on a farm, I think you should watch Yellowstone.  It'll probably remind you of when you were growing up."

So I stared watching it a couple of weeks ago.  I just sent my buddy the following message:

"Been watching Yellowstone.  Pretty good show, but what kind of eff'ed up farm do you think I grew up on?"

Spoilers For Barry:

So I guess the big questions heading into the finale is whether or not Barry will be able to save Sally and their son from Hank and his Chechen gangsters and what consequences Mr. Cousineau will face for now being suspected in being complicit in the death of his girlfriend. Then of course there's Fuchs who has fully embraced his Raven persona and seems dead set on exacting some sort of revenge on Barry for the torture he faced in Prison over the last 8 years.

This show is a Comedy.

I mean, it WAS a comedy! I actually like this season better than the previous. I just felt like for a lot of Barry he was getting away with things almost consequence free and it all seemed too easy (although that never completely goes away). I like that everything's finally come to a head.

And it's still very, very funny when it needs to be. The conversation in last night's episode about The Fast and the Furious movies or NoHo Hank's "Why am I still opening these boxes?" were great. I'll miss it when it's gone.

That is sad. Rome is one of those often overlooked great works of the Peak TV era and he was as big a part of it as anyone.

I did like that... unfortunately I thought the last two episodes were a bit Game of Thronesy in the sense that everything seemed extra convenient and the show runners just wanted to wrap it up, which is unfortunate. The season could've been the best, but they really, really didn't stick the landing at all. I get what they were trying to do and some aspects were interesting, but again, it's like they just wanted the whole thing to wrap and just made the ending simple and easy. The fact that Jim Moss had Barry tied up and just... like... forgot he had him... I guess? is unforgivable.

I guess the explanation was that he became so convinced that Gene was behind Janice's death he sort of stopped caring about Barry but I agree that doesn't make sense. That said, I never really liked the Jim Moss character to begin with and him catching Barry in the first place just seems like it was done to slow Barry down for a bit so Sally could return to LA and get captured.

Broadly though, I'm with you. The ending wasn't great in terms of tying up plot threads but I did like the comedic aspects of it. From Barry's gun buying(and trouble getting out of the car) to the movie at the end to just "Oh wow" as Barry's last line I thought were pretty funny. Story wise, I got the sense Hader was done with the show and just wanted to wrap it up. That makes it not entirely satisfying but I am excited to see what he does next as a writer/director.

I will say that I did like the "Oh wow" moment and it was over in a flash. I like that it was driving home for Barry that he was just kind of killed unceremoniously and without any glory.

Boy, the last season of GOT and Ted Lasso turned out to have a fair bit in common.

I wouldn?t go quite so far about Lasso, but I get your point.

Jamie Tartt and Roy Kent carried the best of the final season, though.

Don't get me wrong, it was still a good show and held my interest, but the pacing was terrible, just like GOT. It's almost like they were debating another season up until the last few episodes.

Case in point-  at the beginning of the season, the team was willing to throw a game by running up red cards because Nate was the opposing coach, and then, one episode before the end, the same players show up to ask him to come back to the team, which I was sure was a dream sequence because it made so little sense, until it was made clear it wasn't.

For no reason other than they have to wrap up the redemption arc, which is was really one of the main ones of the entire series, and they gave it the "poochy had to go back to his home planet" treatment.

It was so overly fluffy and saccharine. I enjoyed most of it but there is such a thing as adding way too much sugar to the cake.

Man, if people haven't started watching The Bear I can't recommend it highly enough. Season 2 really took it to a whole different level.
