Just about to embark on season 2 of Sherlock, very excited!
The first episode was great, didn't miss a beat from season one.

I have a hunch you'll be mildly let down by episode #2(although the second episode of the first season wasn't great either) but it's all worth it for the finale.

Anybody watching "Touch"?

It's pretty good.

It started strong, dragged for a while in the middle but ended on a high note. Next season should be interesting, but, it's getting the Friday night death slot, so, next season will also likely be its last.

Mad Men finale anyone? Will Megan's acting career take off, deepening Don's abandonment issues? Is Don back to his old ways? Have we seen the last of Peggy Olson at SCDP(and will it be SCDC next year?)? Was Pete's "A temporary bandage on a permanent wound" speech a little too on the nose for the themes of the season? Will Bert Cooper finally get an office?

So much good stuff.

Can anyone weigh in on Canadian vs. American Netflix?

I've checked out both a little, and the Canadian one seems to have more that I want to watch.  The US one doesn't have Captain America, Iron Man 2, Thor, or Kenny vs. Spenny, for example.  But everyone using the Canadian one seems pissed we don't have access to the American one.

The only reliable proxies I can find aren't free.  Is it worth an extra $5 a month for a US proxy to have access to their Netflix?

It's absolutely worth it as far as I'm concerned. Just the better stand-up/documentary libraries alone make it worth it as I'm concerned.

And for what it's worth I can get Thor, Iron Man 2 and one season of Kenny vs. Spenny. No Captain America though.

That's cool, I was a little disappointed by the documentary selection on Canadian Netflix.

While we're on the subject, I love David Attenborough nature docs.  I can watch him talk about fish for hours.

It struck me that Pete is becoming like Don was when we first saw him in season 1 - commuting to the city, cheating, unhappy at home, etc.

"I'm going to have the same view as you, Don."

Yep. I've got the Planet Earth series on BluRay. So much better than Sigourney Weaver (she does the US version.)

I left TVO playing on the telly waiting for the Agenda replay and caught part 2 of 'How To Grow A Planet', man is that a good doco.

Just finished watching The Thick of It and really enjoyed it. Kind of a mix of Yes, Minister and The Office but ridiculously, hilariously profane. Peter Capaldi as Malcolm Tucker might be on my short list for best TV character of all time.

Malcolm Tucker has been a hero of mine for quite some time, I think he's loosely based on Alistair Campbell.

I don't really know who that is. I suppose that not being from the UK I missed a bunch of allusions like that but having worked in government, and specifically the media side, the character definitely rang true.

Alistair Campbell is the man who was behind Tony Blair's two terms in government, his chief spin-doctor, a very ornery Scotsman.

EDIT: You where right about Sherlock, episode two of season two seemed a little like filler, it did serve to soften Sherlock and John's relationship a little I suppose. Episode three was great apart from the final thirty seconds, I didn't need to actually see him to know he was still alive.

Ah. Gotcha.

Although it does bring up one of the show's better lines when Malcolm's deputy is introduced and is even more brutally profane:

"You know, when we met, I really thought you were going to be the nice Scot".

Watched the first episode of Newsroom, the new HBO effort from Aaron Sorkin.

For me it has the potential to be his best work since The West Wing.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I don't know all the background of the station (other than I'm pretty sure it is publicly-funded still), but I've been loving the Australian Broadcast Corporation channels in Australia.  Australia's version of the CBC.  Only it's awesome.
