The Official TV Thread

A critical property of a 3D Heisenberg ferromagnet? Keep Walter White out of jail... nice opener.

I've been watching old episodes of 'Never Mind the Buzzcocks' ( yeah, passing the time... ) found this one with Bruce Dickinson, made me laugh, fun show.

They announced the Emmy nominations today. Louis CK set a record for the most individual nominations in any one year with 7. Jared Harris and Giancarlo Esposito got well deserved nods.

Still no Ron Swanson though.

I agree, Jared Harris was great.

I don't watch Big Bang Theory or Two and Half Men so I can't really say if I agreed with those 2 actors being nominated. But I did prefer the other 4 over Nick Offerman. I am assuming Ron Swanson would be considered in the lead actor category.

As much as 30rock might slipped from the first 3-4 years, I still find Jack Donaghy hilarious.

I'm glad to see Homeland recognized and I thought the episode of Community that was nominated for writing was great.

Breaking Bad is still the best show on TV for me.  The first 3 episodes of this season have been great.  This show is consistently excellent, and this season continues to just have a sense of foreboding doom to it for me.

I agree. It's got one of the better senses of atmosphere I've ever seen on a TV show and the way the show is shot is outstanding(the cook scene from last night's episode in particular). Just about every scene is brutally tense.

I've had one or two issues with the plausibility of recent developments but it's still a terrific show week to week.

I just caught one of the older episodes playing on TV here, and it made me notice how the earlier episodes had such a sense of the wide open - lots of wide-shot desert scenes lent an entirely different feel to the episodes.  The more recent couple of seasons have been a lot more inside confined places - Gus' lab, Walt's dark house, now the houses covered.  Maybe some sort of metaphor going on for Walt being confined in his position now, but regardless, you're right about the way it is shot.

Watched the first episode of Newsroom, the new HBO effort from Aaron Sorkin.

For me it has the potential to be his best work since The West Wing.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I've caught up on all Newsroom episodes so far.  Last night had a great mix of seriousness and humour.  Love it.  It really does have that feel of West Wing in it.

I'm also watching True Blood, but I'm not the fan of it that I was in the first couple seasons.

Watched the first season of Sherlock. What a damn good show. Also caught a glimpse of Boss and I didn't realize what an excellent actor Kelsey Grammer is.

Now that it's on Netflix I have to admit I'm having a lot of fun having classic episodes of Law and Order on in the background while working. Is there anything better than Sam Waterston getting really, really outraged at the criminal he's looking to put away?

Wait, so Shark Week is 1 hour every night?  Wtf?

I've never really followed it before but wanted to check it out this year and all my guide shows me is 1 stinkin program every night from 8-9.  Is this really what people get worked up for?  I figured a solid 3-4 hours each night.
