The Official TV Thread

Finally watched SOA season 5 premi?re yesterday. Great episode. Only bad part was Tigs acting when they cooked his kid.

Bobby Cannavale is killing me only one episode into season 3 of Boardwalk Empire. Horrid actor.

You think? I don't know. I've liked him in other stuff like Win-Win and the Station Agent and I know he's gotten Tony noms because he's largely a stage actor. I thought the character was a little clunky more than anything.

I just started watching The New Girl. A few episodes into season one now. I'm finding it entertaining. Zooey Deschanel is just too cute.

Holy Crap. Sons of Anarchy is getting dark.

Dark, I guess, but not all that good. I think what happened last night is kind of the result of the sort of not-so-good writing they did on last season and what they had to do to straighten things out but in doing so I think they ended any chance of the show going in the direction that I think is promising(Jax and Opie  changing the club going forward) and made it so that it's really just going to be more of the same old Jax dealing with Clay/Gemma/the club's past stuff that's getting kind of tired.

That's kinda my take on it, it was pretty brutal though.

Oh and screw Opie, he has kids.

Mrs Wigwal got me into this show and I have to admit, I really enjoy it, especially Schmidt.

True. I guess my thing is that while I'm not put off by stuff like that it also doesn't impress me too much. I mean, heck, I can come up with dark and brutal stuff.

Yeah, that's what I mean about it not being good. None of the choices Opie made this season make any sense.

I can't look away from her.

And it gets better as the season goes on too.

Yeah. It's a fun, quirky comedy with a real penchant for the absurd. I'm a fan.

That's true but it also did mean that these guys were finally "paid" for getting themselves backed into corners every season. We always seemed to get the "miracle" ending that got most of them out unscathed (basically
the main characters I mean). This time, they set up a scenario (that I personally was hoping for the "miracle") that they couldn't get out of without a death of a main character. It does change the direction for sure going forward long-term. I know it's been renewed to 7 seasons so I hope Kurt Sutter has a long term plan in mind because he keeps killing off a lot of characters.

Well, they could, they just chose not to. Even so, the only way they got there was by making said main character largely irrelevant to the show and then make a bunch of decisions that seemed inauthentic and out of character.

I watched the first two episodes of the new season last night, I was cracking up.
