Second season of True Detective starts this Sunday, looks like I'll be watching that and Hannibal this summer.

Looks like Bryan Fuller has a 3 season cap on his shows. Hannibal is done after this season.

Done on NBC ( I'm amazed it ever happened, frankly ) but Fuller has already talked about how he saw the show going much further than that and Amazon had previously shown interest, it may yet live on.

I wish that avenue was available when Pushing Daisies was shelved.

Working my way through Chefs Table on Netflix, from the producers of Jiro Dreams of Sushi. Really interesting stuff from select chefs from around the world.

That John Oliver show is pretty good.

Oh, it's great, in a slightly different way. But only 1 show a week, and HBO actually gives him time off between seasons? What gives? I did like Trevor Noah in his limited appearances on the show, hopefully he's worth watching.

There may not be a single person here who remembers this short film from the 80s (but if there is, I'm betting it's you, Joe S.)  If you watched Superchannel/First Choice movie channels in the mid-80s, every once in the while between late night movies, they'd play this funny short film called Outtakes, a clip of supposed outtakes from a fictional film.  My brother and I and our friends loved it and had it taped on VHS.  The VHS got lost over the years, and for decades my brother and I have independently searched the internet for Outtakes, and never found it.  Until the right Google search at the right time this past weekend...  If you enjoyed it years ago, here it is, and if you haven't seen it before, well, it's 14 minutes long and I take no responsibility if you watch it and don't find it funny.

Actually - I'd never heard of this... We didn't have first choice growing up. Actually, I remember going to the scrambled first choice channel, noticing it was star wars and messing around with the fine tuning TV dial to try and de-scramble the screen, and holy crap was my dad ever pissed.

If people out there are looking for a great comedy series I can't recommend Review with Forest MacNeil highly enough.

I watched the pancake episode. Great concept, but I didn't love the episode. I'm planning on checking out the most recent one where he's falsely accused soon.

Best show on television right now for my money is Mr. Robot. I'm a sucker for shows on U.S.A (like Burn Notice and Suits) but this show is just legitimately great.

Thanks for the heads up. I think I will try it out after I finish Netflixing another USA show (White Collar).

The thing about it is that despite a format that suggests otherwise, it does sort of have a narrative structure. So Pancakes in isolation might have been a bit jarring but both how the show got to the episode and the consequences of that episode are, I think, important to it.

Anyone see Top of the Lake?  It's on Netflix, a second season is coming out soon.  Elizabeth Moss from Mad Men stars in it, set in New Zealand.  Won't give too much away, but it has a pretty dark, strange vibe to it.  I think if you watched The Killing season 1 and enjoyed it you would probably enjoy this too.

This show is great! And yea, I think it would help to watch the season in succession.
Andy Daly is the best.
