Anyone see Top of the Lake?  It's on Netflix, a second season is coming out soon.  Elizabeth Moss from Mad Men stars in it, set in New Zealand.  Won't give too much away, but it has a pretty dark, strange vibe to it.  I think if you watched The Killing season 1 and enjoyed it you would probably enjoy this too.

American IP address needed? I can't find it on Netflix.

Ah sorry about that! Sometimes forget which one I'm signed in to when I watch something.

On another, non-Netflix note: has anyone been watching Show Me a Hero from HBO?

Haven't see this show, but it looks like a pretty good cast. I'll watch most things HBO and SHO... is this one any good?

I think it's very good (who wouldn't get excited about 1980s municipal housing in Yonkers, New York?).  It's done by David Simon so if you're familiar with The Wire or his other work you sort of know it's going to be a quality show.

So I need to replace our TV and I was looking around to see what was available.

Am I crazy or are they selling this 73" tv for $200 on Amazon?

I've only seen the British one and was told to leave it that way.  :)

This is the correct answer. For bonus points though you should have said the first season/series of the British one. The second season, while still having plenty of terrific acting performances, seemed to be written by someone who does soap operas. Just a lot of dumb stuff going on.

As a general rule, that's the way to go. There are obviously exceptions - The Office and Shameless being notable ones - but, in general, stick with the original.

There were two(?) episodes directed in the style of a soap opera that almost made me quit watching the show. So bad.
