My opinion of it is still based entirely on the original promos that aired during HNIC and the fact that it's produced by the CBC but I refuse to believe that Schitt's Creek is even remotely good. I don't care how many people tell me otherwise I'm standing my ground here.

I actually enjoy Schitt's Creek a lot and I was vehemently against it. Catherine O'Hara is freaking fantastic.
Agree. Fantastic show. Eugene Levy and his son are brilliant and so is O'Hara. I think this show is a lot like Corner Gas in a way that it's a love it or hate it kind of deal. To each their own.
After Life by Ricky Gervais on Netflicks....brilliant. And if you have the time, watch Derek, another show by Gervais.

Great show, the character Twyla is also a Levy. Not only is it a good show but it's actually somewhat wholesome. It breaks down wealth barriers between classes and normalizes sexual preferences.

I'm re-watching Breaking Bad for the first time since it was originally on air.  Forgot how good this show is, even though I know what's gonna happen I'm still way into it and looking for the clues they put throughout in episodes.  Such a great concept for a show.

Agree. I knew that about Twyla also. Pretty cool. Enjoyed Levy's work since the SCTV days. His son is so much like him.

Great googly moogly, they're turning The Boys into a TV Show:

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/boys-review-1205773

I appreciate that anything even remotely connected to Superheroes is probably a hot property in Hollywood these days but I can't imagine that they'll be able to put in half of the stuff that the book did. I like to think that I've got a pretty big tolerance for these sorts of things but The Boys, quite frankly, was pretty grotesque.

I?m two episodes in and it?s quite good so far, knowing nothing of the source material.

I've seen a couple episodes as well and I agree, it's pretty good. They've toned down a lot of the violence/sex stuff but like I said, that's almost unavoidable. I don't think a faithful adaption of most Garth Ennis stuff could ever get made.

It?s fun seeing Toronto. Like, excellent use of Roy Thompson Hall.

And The Deep drives a Hummer lol

I also dig that MM is the OCD Karamo Brown of the whole outfit.

Pricing is announced to be $8.99 / month (or $89.99 if you want to pay annually).

No Hulu/ESPN bundle, which isn't particularly surprising.

Fox's branding wasn't included in this tweet, so it seems like Canadians might not be getting that. Does someone else have the digital rights to that at the moment up here?

The fragmented digital streaming environment is getting really annoying.

Most of Fox's shows have their digital rights spread amongst Canadian TV Channels.  Those channels wouldn't want to give up digital streaming rights, since they all have their own platforms (most of which are only available with a cable subscription).  So that isn't surprising at all.

Agreed. Eventually we are going to have as many streaming services as we do cable channels. Thus, rendering the benefits of streaming null and void. We will just have streaming bundles instead of cable bundles.

Well, that's sort of the point. All the money people were saving by cutting cable and streaming was money that ended up not going to big media companies. They were always going to try to get that money back.

Yes, of course, we all knew they were going to get it back, and I'm happy to pay in some respects since there's more flexibility with what you choose to pay for, but I wonder if we're going to see more and more fragmentation and other companies breaking away from Netflix/Hulu/Crave to have in house options. It may get to the point of absurdity.

We probably will(NBC is going to have their own for sure) but like we discussed a while back it's probably not sustainable for all of these companies to exist in the long run. Netflix's whole business model right now is about continuous growth and there's evidence that they're running out of people to sign up.

We're probably going to see a rapid expansion as these big companies jockey to be one of the handful of ones that survive.

Short of buying discs (the only option I can find at this point), does anyone know where I can stream SCTV. I'm trying to convince my American wife about what a great show this was growing up. She's actually taken me to a number of live Kids in the Hall shows here in Seattle, but she has never seen an episode of SCTV.

Thanks!

I don't think there are any "legal" streaming sites for SCTV. You can always see short clips on YouTube but other than that discs are your option

Thanks, Zee. It's a shame, but that's kind of what I figured.
