I'm telling you, I would take on Lecavalier before Luongo.

I would also....
I was beheaded when I suggested this two years ago.

I'm glad you recovered! But I don't remember discussing Lecavalier over Luongo before...

Sorry Luongo was never brought up.  Before Brad Richards was signed as a UFA by the Rags and many had pushed for Burke to go after Richards I had questioned that route.  I simply had pushed for a Lecavalier for Komi deal thinking that  we may be able to trade one bad contract for an even longer horrible contract in Lecavaliers.  Komisarek's salary in the fourth year was dropping below the cap hit of 4.5 mil so I thought the Lightning may jump at the savings.  They would only have to pay Komi 3.5 mil in the final two years as opposed to Vinnies 10 mil until 2015 on a 7.7 mil cap hit until 2019.  I thought Vinny could rebound if thrust back into the top centre role.  I was decapitated immediately, Richards was thought to be far and away the better option and I was crazy for suggesting the Vinny slant.  In looking at both the Richards and Lecavalier deals today I think we can safely say it is a good thing either option didn't pan out.

mirtle: Doesn't sound like Gardiner can play Saturday. Basically ruled out.

I'd rather they keep him out, no sense in rushing the kid from a concussion.

No harm in giving him the allotted 5 game trial. It will give him a taste without burning up the 1st season.

EDIT: sorry I confused Gardiner with Rielly. I'd give Rielly the 5 game look-see with Gardiner out.

mirtle: My mistake on Gardiner there - Carlyle has NOT ruled him out for Saturday.

So if Gardiner is good to go, do we still give Rielly the 5 game try out?

Gardiner/Rielly pairing.  See the future in action for 5 games!

Probably. Gives the team some options, and maybe lets them ease Gardiner back in.

I think there's also nothing wrong in simply evaluating what they have in Rielly, which is the route I think they're going to take.

We dont want to break Reilly the same way we did with Schenn by rushing him. He will play his 5 games and go back to junior. IMO

If he is not ready, then he should be sent back.  If they are unsure if he is ready, then he should play 5 games and then a decision should be made on those 5 games.  Giving him 5 games even if he isn't ready would be silly in my mind.

It seems as if Grabbo forgot speaking English :)

He still knows how to say he's going to punch Lupul in the face for mocking Russian food, however.

Did Reimer go down with an injury today?  Thought I heard that on Sportscentre tonight.

You probably misheard when they said JvR went off with a bruised foot.

Possibly...I thought the said Goalie Reimer...but maybe they said Van Reimsdyk.  Maybe I should get my hearing checked.
