I predict with this lineup, the leafs to be out of playoff picture within 15 games.

I think the Leafs scoring is fine.  Biggest issues is of course goaltending and defense.  If Carlyle can "fix" those (including penalty killing), Leafs will be in the mix.  Who would have thought Ottawa would be a playoff team last season?  Never know what can happen.  It all comes down to team defense at this point.

Not like putting words into my mouth, lol.
Our goaltending sucks, our D is ok but our forwards are below average with a couple exceptions. I like Carlyle, I was actually in his hockey school years back with him and Foligno and am a fan of his. We missed the playoffs by a large margin last year and I have seen no significant upgrades. Lupol and Kessel started losing there magic in the last third of last season as well. I'm frustrated that its a new season with practically the same lineup. Sorry if you disagree with my opinion but last I checked this is a forum OF opinions.

One question? on scoring, where did the Leafs finish? oh ya 10th in NHL, and 6th in confrence. hmm.. you say thats below average, ok... our goal is in the air and am sure will be much improved with a healthy Riemer. our coach will have the d playing 100% better. I dont see doom and gloom  as you do. I think we will be in the mix. not shooting you down dude just letting you know its not as bad as you thought.

#Leafs RT @RenLavoieRDS: Maple Leafs waivers: Greg Scott, Ryan Hamilton, Mike Mottau, Keith Aucoin? Ex-Bear looking like back to Marlies.

I wonder if Hamilton will get a chance somewhere??

He'd still have to be better than another player on another NHL team. I'd say he more than clears.

Great statement by Kadri scoring 3 goals in Blue and White game

Yup... and on a related note;

@longleysunsport
Carlyle on Connolly: "I thought he had a rough day today." Big question now, is what to do with him? #Leafs

I've said that it's probably better to keep the Lombardi's and Connolly's around until the deadline for a couple of reasons but if either has to go tomorrow brcause of Kadri, I'm good.

Another reason is Komarov, who seemed to be pretty good for third/fourth line duty, finishing his checks - something Carlyle certainly loves to see.

Reilly was impressive playing with Dion. Kostka too and btw. he was the only SO scorer, out of 10 skaters.

Kessel showed some speed and burried one, Kuli got the only goal for team Blue, fluky one, but good that he is getting those. Franson also scored for team White.

Ben allowed 1 goal and looked good especially in the second, James allowed 5, but in the first was really rusty, afterwards got much better and got scored on just once by Kessel.

Weather Kostka make it out of camp or not, I bet we see a fair amount of him this year. Seems to do everything well and could probably fill in admirably for any of our D.

Yeah, but, at the same time, it's important to remember that Kadri has been playing since September and is in mid-season form, whereas the Connollys and Lombardis of the world are still shaking off the rust.

Speaking of Komarov, he is another pick from the 2006 draft that has a chance of being an NHLer this year.

JFJ made 7 picks (Tlusty, Kulemin, Stalberg, Reimer, Holzer, Komarov, Ruegsegger) that year and only 1 has no chance of being in the NHL this season, Ruegsegger.

Had he only selected Giroux instead of Tlusty I'd take back every negative comment I ever made about him as Leafs GM.
