It'll be an interesting first summer with Nonis.  Either Kessel gets a long term deal or there will be a major shakeup to this lineup.  I can't wait to see what direction he goes in and we'll be right along for the second guessing regardless of what the decision is.

Perry wants to be closer to home, eh? I know somewhere really close to home!

That's a moot point, however, if Perry doesn't want to stay. It's believed he would like to be closer to home (Ontario), although the team's impressive 18-3-3 record is making his decision much more difficult.

Hmm, his hometown seems close to Ottawa too, it's probably closer to where he's from than Toronto.  Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

If he gets to free agency, sign him.

If we have too many wingers, Frattin, JVR, Lupul or even Kessel can be traded... if you can get a player like Perry for no asset cost, I think you have to try everything in your power to do so.

It was suggested to me on Twitter if you can sign Perry, you can move Kessel for the centre.

Or, you move Kessel TO centre.

Even if it's at a huge cap hit? I wouldn't be surprised if Perry gets $9mil for 7 years on the open market, and that's not a deal that I sign. I've always thought that Getzlaf was the superior player (MVP season aside), and even his contract makes me uneasy.

Yeah but he was born early enough to not consider Ottawa a real team.

Plus, why would he want to play with Spezza when he could play with Bozak.

Back in Boston and in his early days in Toronto Kessel was listed at 5'11. That's probably roughly what he had been measured at in his draft combine.

When you see a guy like a Staal who's listed at 6'4 and certainly looks the part, and then see how short the other players are around him, you start to catch on that there's a numbers inflation for most of their listed heights/weights.

Not all skate boots and chassis are equal as well. They vary in sizes and heights making comparisons even more out of whack.

There coudl be, but, the problem in making judgements from these kinds of observations is that you almost never get the opportunity to see players next to each other when they have the same posture and are filmed from the proper perspective.

Angles can be deceptive, but I think a few of the tall guys in the league who's listed heights aren't inflated reveal the inaccuracy of a few of their fellow players.

As Kessel Run points out, there are also differences in the heights of various skates, so, what you see on the ice can be extremely deceptive. Without seeing the players barefoot, on a flat surface, all standing perfectly straight against a wall with a view from a direct angle . . . well, there's no real way to say for sure which measurements may or may not be accurate.

I'd be interested in moving Bozak, Mac and some D.

Targets I'd be after are Clowe and Ribeiro (as much as I've hated him in the past he's producing). I'd also look into the availability of Bogosian though I doubt he'd be available for a price I'd be willing to pay.

Clowe wasn't great last season and has been awful this season. Unless the team can buy low on him and get him cheap, I'd pass.
