The replies to his thread aren't kind, nor should they be.
I can't believe how insane that all was over a can of freaking beans. I have some questions...

1. How have you never taught your kid to open a tin

2. Can't you just show them how?

The dude deleted his account. He co-hosts a podcast with Ken Jennings, who's now taking some hits for defending Bean Dad.

As a parent, I'd say it's fine to encouragingly say, "see if you can figure it out!", and offer some guidance. Depending on the kid and how it goes, I'd probably give it 5 minutes or so at most, more if they want it and are determined.

6 hours? That's nuts at any age, let alone 9 years old. That's the length of a whole school day! Whatever she learned from the ordeal is going to be pretty negative, and way more about her father than about herself.

1) The whole thing was almost certainly made up entirely or at least heavily embellished.

2) Bean Dad also had a long history of saying pretty offensive things on his twitter including some anti-Semitic stuff, which Ken Jennings (possible future host of Jeopardy) tried to weirdly defend.

Yeah, sorry, I neglected to mention the anti-semitic stuff that's been dug up that Ken found himself defending. I doubt the story was made up entirely, although who knows. I don't doubt he embellished the telling of the story to some degree, although it's still not great if the best case scenario for him is that he didn't actually emotionally abuse his child but rather just pretended to do so for kicks on the internet.

In any event I'm glad that it completely blew up in his face.

Not sure where this should go exactly but I'm looking to paint an accent wall in my place and I've only ever bought paint during pre-covid times when you could go in and try samples etc... Does anyone know how to order swatches/paint cards/chips or whatever? Do I just call up Rona/Home Depot and they'll figure it out somehow? I'm trying to figure out a way to do it online and get chips/cards mailed but it looks like only the Americans have that luxury.

You probably need to wait until after the lockdown if you?re looking for specific colours.

Just phone up a paint store and tell them what colours you want sample chips for and you should be able to pick them up curbside pickup.

All the major manufacturers will have online colours. I like Cloverdale Paint because it's Canadian, but Dulux (ICI, Glidden, etc.), Para Paints, Benjamin Moore, Behr, etc. are all fine. I prefer dealing with paint stores rather than big box stores because it's generally easier to just call them up and tell them what you want.

If you're really hard up, let me know what you want from either Cloverdale or Benjamin Moore and I can mail large sample to you (i'm an interior designer among other things and have designer kits with 4x6" samples for the main colour lines for those two manufacturers.) Once I use a sample, I just order the new ones and they send them to me for free.

I don't know if there's a better place to post this, but apparently thanks to Tik Tok, sea shanties have made a comeback, and I'm all for it.

Pipeline... was it really ever going to happen? At no time did I think it was going to fly. Seemed like every $ spent, while it was being spent, was going straight into the toilet. What comes after oil in Alberta? Probably debt via green infrastructure that hopefully pays off in the long game.

So a bunch of bored Redditors have decided to short squeeze some hedge funds into bankruptcy and reveal just what a complete and total shell game the modern stock market is.

What a weird god damn year this month has been.

I needed an explanation as to what happened:

Wonder how many people and how much money was pumped into GameStop. And hypothetically couldn't they just communally pump any stock they want?
