Architects apologize for 9/11 blast look-alike design

SEOUL - A Dutch architectural firm has apologized for its design of twin skyscrapers in central Seoul which resemble the exploding World Trade Center towers in New York and have infuriated families of the victims of the 9/11 attacks.

The blueprint for the luxury apartment buildings was released last week and shows a structure which juts out at the middle to accommodate pools, restaurants, cafes and a gym.

Relatives of victims of al-Qaida?s Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States have expressed outrage, according to U.S. media reports, saying the designers have no respect for those that died and branding the design a cheap publicity stunt.

Designer MVRDV said it had not intended to create an image resembling the attacks, and it did not see the resemblance during the design process.

?We sincerely apologize to anyone whose feelings we have hurt. It was not our intention,? the company said on its website.

It did not indicate whether it would change the design.

?A real media storm has started and we receive threatening e-mails and calls of angry people calling us al-Qaida lovers or worse,? it said on its Facebook page.

The district developer is expected to decide on the final design plans by March.

Hot damn, you think anyone in hockey could pull off something like this (New Zealand vs. Tonga in rugby, both teams doing their tribal war dance at each other before the start of the match).

That looks badass as hell, but I don't think it would translate very well...

EDIT: When I played rugby in high school, we used to do laps to death metal while yelling at the opposition before a match.  At 15, I thought it was pretty cool.  I'm just happy I don't have any video of it, because I don't think it looked as awesome as I thought it did.

I've started to play Eastside hockey manager 2007 again, right now I have a 2-0 lead in the playoffs over the devils, and am currently playing the 3rd game. And right now the 4th OT will start, I don't think it's ever taken such a long time to decide a game when I've been playing Eastside. Right now Hedberg is the goalie for the devils, he has saved 68/69 shots, and I've got B?ckstr?m in the net, and he has saved 53/54 shots.

F*** the devils scored with less than a minute left of the 4th OT period. Totalt shots 76-72 to the leafs, and 2-1 to the devils.

Just got off the phone, said yes to starting giving money to Amnesty on a regular basis again. Not sure if that was such a smart idea considering that I don't even have a job now, but hey, what the heck :)

I did something today that I haven't done before. I said no to an interview for a job. I would have received a pay raise and a steady job, still I said no :D

That has to be a good feeling knowing you don't need it.

Well actually im unemployed, so I do need a job. It's just that I felt that I had to say no, since I'm overqualified, and I've taken lots of jobs before that I've been overqualified for, but it's become a problem for me. I can't use my education, and they're always asking me on interviews why I've worked in so many roles that I'm overqualified for. It was tough, but felt like the right thing to do.

Couldn't you just have taken the job until something you are qualified for presented itself?

This is actually what I've been told by others the last 3 times it has happend.  :D But I quit two of those 3, because I was so bored that I actually got sick from the whole thing, and they're always asking me 2 things:
1. Why did you stay such a short time?
2. Why did you take the job if you have the education?

And that always becomes a problem for me. Another thing is also, that for everytime I take one of those jobs it means that I can't work with what I was educated for, and it has happend several times, and I am forgetting a lot of the things from the education, since I can't work with it. And at the moment it feels as if, I can't keep on doing something that I know wont be for long term, I've done it so many times in a row now.

Is it safe to assume that Sweden's social assistance programs are wealthier / better than Canada's? Actually...isn't Sweden a socialist country?

Depends on what you mean really, it's better in Denmark for example, if you mean unemployment benefits. But technically the max limit that you can get unemployment benefits is at roughly 3450 us dollars per month, but then you get 80% of that before taxes at max. So basically you could end up at around 1700 us dollars per month at max, unless you have like income insurances and stuff like that.

Sweden is considered as a socialist country by a lot, probably due to the fact that the Social democrats have ruled the country for a very long time. However the right are in their 2nd period now, and the Social democrats have big internal issues right now, so they've dropped a lot.
