Going into the city (Toronto) tomorrow night...anyone got any suggestions for a restaurant near Jarvis and Bloor?

The Keg Mansion is close by, and is always a favourite.

I guess it depends on what you mean by near and what you're looking for but you'd be a 5-10 minute drive away from the Danforth where I'd recommend Avli or Pantheon if you're a fan of greek food(although that comes from a non-greek so I can't speak to their authenticity).

Thanks boys.

How about cool lounges with music?

None I'm familiar with in the neighbourhood unfortunately.

Also, you should probably disregard my dinner recommendation. The Taste of the Danforth street fair/festival will be going on this weekend so it'll be packed and not driveable.

Don't know the names, but there's a couple on Bloor between the Rogers building and Yonge, both on the south side of Bloor...

Huge boys weekend coming up. I'ts a group for the most part that are big scotch drinkers. I know some scotch drinkers thumb their noses at bourbon but to tell you the truth, I actually prefer it. Usually, the finer scotch is just wasted on me. Now, I'm far from a boubon connoisseur but I do recognize there's a huge difference between Wild Turkey and Maker's Mark (which I almost always buy.) Having said that, are there any bourbon drinkers out there that can recommend a nice bottle that I can enjoy amongst these snooty scotch drinkers? - I don't have an unlimited budget either.

What's your budget?

Knob Creek is pretty good and will usually cost between $25-$30 for a 0.75 litre and it's nine years old small batch.

Basically if you can find Bourbon that's been aged in a single barrel it's going to be good, might be a little more costly than the above, which is kinda the level above Makers Mark and the like.

EDIT: The Elijah Craig and Weller's are also pretty good, around the same price for the same sized bottle and both are 12 year olds I think.

My wife would kill me if she found out but I don't object to spending 75,80 bucks. Obviously, if there's little value in doing that, the cheaper the better.

Are you going to be in Canada or the States? Because the selection in Canada doesn't really allow for a ton of variety unless you go to one of the giant LCBO's that has the special Whiskey Shop in it. I agree with Wig that Knob Creek is one of the better commercially available bourbons but I'm not sure if the LCBO stocks it.

Canada... and the LCBO website shows 2 bottles of the Knob on hand at my local.

Well, that's a good one then. I also like the Four Roses single barrel but I don't think either one will steer you wrong.

If you wanna spend that then I'd go for Blanton's, single barrel, smooth and still a little warmth there, drink it neat without ice.

EDIT: It will probably cost around $50.

I've tried a number of different bourbons, and my favourite is the 10yo Eagle Rare, currently available through vintages at the LCBO
