Dreger just said he expects Burke to make another run at JVR.

The more I hear Dreger speak the more I feel he's fairly clueless. He earlier said Letang was better than Chara.

Well, I don't think Letang is worse... It's a toss-up for me.

Is that like juggling an apple, a razor blade and a chainsaw kind of toss up?

I'm not sure how much of a bargaining chip Kadri is anymore.

Just because some fans are giving up on him due to their lack of patience doesn't mean that GMs around the league don't value him. He's still only in his 2nd professional season. His value has not dropped all that much since he was drafted.

On TSN radio they were having the predictable "is Kadri a bust?" discussion.

::)

The only people more short sighted than the fans about how to look at a prospect's development are the media.

What was the consensus....He's a write off?

Correction... I said last night; "Dreger just said he expects Burke to make another run at JVR." Apparently, what he actually said was;

DarrenDreger Darren Dreger

@JimmyStizzle. I did not. I said I expect Burke will revisit interest in JVR.

Just wanted to clear - If it makes any difference.

Don't know. I switched channels when I heard it was the next topic.  I really can't stand to listen to crap like that anymore.  Waste of time.

I've all but stopped listening to the so-called "insiders" with a few small exceptions like McKenzie and some of the former players who actually understand the game and can articulate it.  The rest are just guys who went to school to learn how to write an article and are apparently now experts on how the game is played and how players are developed and get to babble endlessly on radio about their vast knowledge.  Um, no.

Basically what separates them from the average slack-jawed yokel who calls in to Leafs Talk is about 15 IQ points.

That's brutal.

Do you mean 15 IQ points higher or lower?

Some of the trades proposed by so-called insiders trades are ludicrous.  I think that it is Dreger who keeps throwing in Kulieman in any potential trade for the Leafs to get bigger up front.  How could anyone with an IQ above room temperature (even in Celsius) think that this would help?

I agree that Bob McKenzie is one of the few who is worth listening to.  I have a lot of respect for his knowledge and appreciate it that he never pretends to know more than he actually does.

except that the video is posted on tsn and I just watched DD say that burke will take another run at jvr.

I think mr dreger is a no better than these guys on twitter who remove their tweets.  He's just trying to get people to tune in by mentioning the leafs.

They both mean pretty much the same thing.

Yeah, I think so too... I just wanted to be clear and make sure I wasn't posting something that wasn't true.

I watched it last night too and I dont remember how exactly he worded it but he was pretty clear that he was certain that Burke intended to make another attempt at JVR. In Dreggers own mind at least.

Im less concerned with acquiring someone like JVR at this point and much more concerned with doing everything under the sun to try and pry a Nash, Getzlaf or Staal out from somewhere. I feel like trading for JVR wouldnt be nearly as significant an improvement as some people seem to think.

Dreger wants "hits" like anyone else.  Of course he's gonna throw out rumors.  In this sense he's no better than Eklund.  Only advantage Dreger has is he gets to actually speak with scouts, gms and agents whereas Eklund just makes stuff up.

"I expect Burke to make another run"

or

"I expect Burke to revisit interest"

WTF's the difference? lol

I suppose one suggests an action being taken (such as an actual trade offer) and one just suggests he'd reconsider taking action. Seems a bit of a stretch though.

I don't understand why TSN even employs Dreger. Any idiot can go on TV, pretend they know people in the industry, and make stuff up. I'm sure they could find something more useful to spend whatever money he makes on. The guy has absolutely no credibility. He probably just steals any leads that he doesnt make up from MacKenzie.
