... and nice save.

You know, puck on his blade, and maybe he can get it up off the ice and score there.

97 points is the most any team needed to qualify for the playoffs since the lockout. Chicago has 45 now and needs 12 more points to hit the equivalent of 97 pts in a 48 game season.

To get those 12 points, Chicago need to play roughly .260 hockey the rest of the way over their last 23 games. The worst team in the NHL this year is playing .400 hockey. The worst team since the lockout played .341 hockey. After tonight's loss, Chicago is playing .900 hockey so far this season. It's inconceivable that they'd fall below .260 hockey the rest of the way.

Mathematically, Chicago hasn't clinched but they've pretty much locked up a playoff berth after the start they've had.

I was watching the game and as soon as he started that move I knew the Sens would lose. Save it for the All-Star game.

Why? He came just as close as others that just shot the puck.

Karma. It was a show off type of move. I thought it was pretty silly. Even if he would have scored I would have felt the same way.

I don't think an NHL calibre goalie lets that attempt in, ever.  He can't lift the puck at all, the goalie just needs to follow the stick and keep the paddle down.

To me, it looked like Rask had to come waaaay over to make that stop. In my mind it was a nice save and it probably goes in on a lot of NHL goalies. Moreover, if the shooter is confident be can score, I have no problem with the maneuver.

Couldn't you say the exact same thing about the Forsberg move? The whole point of it is that it's tough to follow the stick.

I think Rask made it look tougher than it was.  He was expecting the shooter to do something else at the end instead of just following the stick along the ice.  Had he suddenly flipped the stick into a shooting mode and raised the puck it's a tougher stop.  The guy basically tried to shovel the puck right into the net beyond Rask's pad, I guess if he had pushed Rask's pad into the net it would worked.

Newsflash: Crosby pretty good

His 33 assists ? including five in a victory over the New York Islanders on Sunday ? give him an assists-per-game average of 1.269, which is the 20th-highest ratio in NHL history for a single season. The names ahead of him: Mario Lemieux, Wayne Gretzky, Adam Oates and Bobby Orr.

His 1.731 points per game rests just outside the top 50 all-time, at No. 51. Yet it?s the highest in the last 13 years, since Mario Lemieux?s 1.767 in 2000-01.

Perhaps most impressive of all: He?s making Chris Kunitz look like Jaromir Jagr.

Sid is on pace for 83 points this season, or 141.9 points in an 82-game season, which would be the highest in the NHL since Mario (161) and Jagr (149) had their incredible campaign in 1995-96.

While we are on the topic of shootouts, how would you feel about having the entire team participate in them? Eliminate the 4-on-4 for the extra time. Shooters alternate with only a max 30 second break in between. Shooters go alphabetically until all players have gone. Most goals wins.

Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to complete.

I'd rather see that extra 10 minutes be used for 4 on 4 OT.
