2024-25 General Trades and Signings

You hope he does. I wonder if the Leafs could get Murphy from the Hawks. I think he'd be great with Rielly.

I was hoping Murphy would be like a Jake McCabe 2.0 trade. Still might sorta be but important to note that Chicago has now used up all 3 of their retention spots for this season (Jones, Rantanen, and still McCabe)

I really like this trade for Chicago, although I'm a bit of a Spencer Knight fan. Still like his potential. For this season it obviously makes Florida quite a bit stronger. But if it eventually leads to not having enough cap space to re-sign Ekblad it's ends up being pretty questionable (unless they pull off going back-to-back I guess).

Maybe they walk from Ekblad but they only have 75M in cap used up heading into the off-season with 9 forwards, 5 defense and 1 goalie. Bobrovsky's 10M contract is done after next season too so they only have to cut fringe corners for one season before freeing up a bit of money there.

Outside of Bennett and Ekblad their other UFA/RFAs aren't guys that will command money. Unless Ekblad wants absurd money I don't see how they don't have the money to keep him

Edmonton sends forward Shane Lachance who is from Massachusetts, and is currently playing for BU, along with picks.

So, that makes sense from Boston's perspective.

I was never too crazy about either Frederic or Evans. I don't know why but both players just feel like they'd forget how to score immediately coming here and that would limit them to more of a 4th line role. So wasn't too interested in either but them coming off the market a few days early is obviously going to give teams with other 3C options a little more bargaining power.

I'm not saying the Leafs should be overpaying to try and keep up with teams here but both Florida and Tampa improving their teams when we are so tight feels like the Leafs aren't going to keep their lead in the division. I really am not looking forward to playing Tampa or Florida in the first round.

The way TB has been playing and now adding players we're on a collision course with the defending champions. On the bright side, it's not BOS or TB for a change.

Leafs control their own destiny. Let's not act like they're not a very good team. They have just as good a shot at winning the division and then guess what? One of TBay or Fla will be gone after the 1st round. Let's see what Brad does or doesn't do by Friday.
