Luongo

Probably has the opposite effect. Having Schneider signed strengthens his negotiating position a little. It takes away the pressure of having to move Luongo to get Schneider to stick around.

That seems a little more likely. If Schneider is in the fold then Gillis can sit back and not worry too much about things going terribly for him. Now all he needs to concern himself with is maximizing the return on Luongo.

Raise your hand if you'd rather see Luongo go to Florida and then we trade for Theodore.

Depends on what the team would have to give up for Theodore (likely not much), but, yeah, in grand scheme of things, that might be the most palatable option.

Eh, Theodore strikes me as JS Giguere 2: This time it's Greasier.

Pass.

Luongo aside, I think it's a good deal for Schneider.

It's a lot of money for a guy who has never played a full season as a starter in the NHL.

I think there's little doubt he's going to be an excellent goaltender in this league.

He's not ideal, but, he's a veteran goalie, has put up decent numbers over the last couple seasons, has experience playing in a high pressure environment and comes with a very favourable 1 year, $1.5M contract. If Burke does bring in a vet as a short-term stabilizer, he's probably the best and most affordable option.

I just don't think he adds enough upside to outweigh the benefits of giving the young kids all the starts and either develop one or reap the big pick if they stink.

And it was a good joke.

I would have gone with JS Giguere 2: The Revenge.

Or something along the lines of it being a Hair Club for Men before and after situation.

Yeah, well, this is why good jokes aren't written by committee.

Except, I guess, for legendary San Francisco comedy troupe The Committee.

I would be fine with Theodore for the one year he is signed.

He was a big part of the Panthers getting to the post season and it gives Reimer a year to get his game back... go from there.

Bidding war? Yeah... Komisaek and a 5th rounder. If not see ya... No way should any first  2nd or 3rd rd picks be given for this contract.... If we go with Scrivens/Reimer so be it. I don't think we make the playoffs but should be better with a full year of Carlyles system... Screw Gillis

Could be the only option if Luo goes to FLA. It certainly would be a hit to Burkes ego though. Losing out to FLA in the Luongo sweepstakes, and then asking them for the old goalie they dont want anymore.

Kinda like being runner up for a $500 k job, only to have the guy who beat you out offer you his old job at Mcdonalds.

My thoughts exactly.
