Man it would have been special to see Stamkos and Crosby together.

Would have been scary, IMO.  Would be the best player Crosby's ever played with probably.
Sorry, I'm a little late to comment on this, but you really would argue that Stamkos is better than Malkin? A better goal scorer perhaps... but better player?

Stamkos is the better of the two, IMO.

I'd probably give a slight edge to the higher goalscorer because I think it's harder to rack up high goal totals than high assist totals, but a strong argument could be made that Malkin is the better player too.  I don't really care.

Without having watched the game, I have to say I was kind of expecting more than a 3-1 outcome from Canada.

I'd say that was a realistic expectation. I only saw the second half of the game, but it wasn't really close at all. The sustained pressure by the Canadians is pretty intense. I haven't checked, but I'm guessing the offensive zone time was very lop-sided.

Alfy scores to break a scoreless tie with just over 7 minutes left in the 3rd. Karlsson assists. sens fans weep. The Swiss were oh-so-close to the first upset.

I'm kinda surprised that the C wasn't given to Alfredsson with Zetterberg out.

Ratboy gives the Swedes a 1-0 lead late in the 3rd after Berra bumbles a weak shot and leaves a juicy rebound and an open net.

Swedes end up winning 1-0. The Swiss really don't have a whole lot other than defence, and that one mistake by the goalie proves costly.

Lebrun...

Further to @TSNBobMcKenzie, word here in Sochi is plan for tonight is to have Martin St. Louis on Crosby line with Kunitz

Line-up according to Mirtle:

Kunitz-Crosby-St. Louis
Duchene-Getzlaf-Perry
Marleau-Toews-Nash
Tavares-Bergeron-Benn/Carter

Subban is the 7th defenceman. Luongo starts, Smith backs up.

3rd leading scorer in the league on the 4th line.

Well, we have to remember this isn't the Leafs' 4th line. This is a 4th line that's going to get significant ice time, and against weaker opposition.

Listening to Cherry about it being decision time for the goaltenders after today's match. I have a feeling Luongo takes the reigns the rest of the way.
