Official Ottawa Senators Thread

Not that a 6th round draft pick is anything special, but the sens could have claimed him on waivers for nothing about a week ago.

edit: well, almost a month ago. I guess that's not as bad.

I'd rather just give the Leafs a 6th round pick, and not have to have Matt Kassian on the team.

EDIT: I'm still bitter that we dumped both Carkner and Konopka.

That brings the count to... 2?

Isn't Spezza supposed to be back before the playoffs?

Or is Anderson out for the season?

Cowen, Karlsson, Spezza is due back around the end of the season-ish.

Anderson was day-to-day a month ago, we're not even getting updates on his condition anymore.  Feels Hasek-esque.

Just a few days ago, Sportsnet reported he was skating but not taking part in drills. The updates are being put out there.

Feels almost like a ....sucker...punch?

I'm taking the high road and ignoring all of you. >:(

I've got more important things to worry about, Methot just left the ice after tweaking his knee.

I think Lundin is done for the year too, but who cares about him.

I'm convinced your coach could take a Timbits team and still pull out some wins I wouldn't worry too much.

It sure doesn't sound as if Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray is planning to offload captain Daniel Alfredsson -- or any other key player -- before the NHL's April 3 trade deadline.

Speaking to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun on the eve of the league's annual GM meetings in Toronto, Murray said that with the Sens currently sitting in a playoff spot, he's actually thinking about adding a high-end player to his injury-depleted roster, not subtracting one from it.

"We've got another two weeks," Murray told the paper. "If we're still playing hard and well, then I may take a look to see if we can do something. I'm certainly not going to give up a top young player at this point, but if there's an ability to acquire someone who can help us as we go.

I wouldn't put Alfredsson in the "top young player" category.

I hope he does nothing.  Maybe unload Bishop.  We should be getting Spezza and Anderson back before the end of the season, they can be our deadline acquisition.

I just think this team got where they are on pure team chemistry.  I don't want a big trade to screw with that.  Just see how far these kids can go.

Those Sens sure know how to win in a shootout, 3-2 over Brodeur's Devils.
