The Official TV Thread

Something I enjoyed a lot was the Apple TV show Ted Lasso. For a comedy it's not the funniest show but it's funny enough and with likeable characters and a good premise. It's unrelentingly positive which isn't my usual vibe but it grows on you.

We binge watched Ted Lasso over the Christmas break.  The only thing I'm not sure about is why they are doing a second season.  It kind of felt like a nice likeable one off to me.

I agree that things wrapped up nicely but I think they earned at least some good faith that they can make a similarly nice, if slight at times, season 2.

From what I heard, Bill Lawrence had written it as a 3 season show from the beginning and is not making it up as he goes along. It got a renewal through season 3.

I would guess that season 2 will be based around trying to earn a promotion back to the Premier League.

How much is Apple TV +?  Can I get it as an app on my Samsung TV?

$5.99/mth

https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00082624/

Which devices have the Apple TV app?

The Apple TV app is available on select 2018, 2019, and 2020 Samsung smart TVs, Lifestyle TVs, QLED 4K and 8K TVs, and the Premiere projector. It is also available on Apple TV, Roku, and Amazon streaming devices. For a full list of compatible devices, check out Apple support. You do not even need to download it because it will appear in the Apps section on your TV.

Note: If the Apple TV or Apple Music app does not appear in apps, then it is not compatible with your TV.

And if you (or someone in your household) happen to have a subscription to Apple Music it might be worth getting their Apple One bundle. I was already paying $11.29 for Music and $1.46 for their 50gb cloud storage. So for another $3.20 a month I got their TV and Arcade subscriptions with the bundle.

Thanks boys.

I'd also say though Apple TV doesn't exactly have a ton of great content, at least right now. Ted Lasso is definitely a hit (although I haven't watched it, I plan to) and I liked their Dickenson show (maybe not for everyone though). When I was going through their other stuff the other day nothing really jumped out at me.

Seems like there's a lot of stuff with big names attached currently being produced though.

We watched The Morning Show a little while ago, and it's pretty good.

I tend to have a lot of TV in the background when I am doing office work in the evenings so I had the Mythic Quest show on.  I don't really think I enjoyed it all that much.

I'm a big fan of broadway so I did really love Central Park.  The cast is fantastic although the show fell victim to a little bit of social justice nonsense because Kristen Bell voiced a character who wasn't white....on a show where a geriatric lady is voiced by Stanley Tucci.

I got a "free" 1 year subscription when I upgraded my phone so that's pretty much the only reason I have the service right now.  I'm not sure that I would pay for it once that expires.

"See" was ok but hit and miss. For All Mankind looked promising but my apple tv sub ran out before I had a chance to watch it. Like LK, I got a year subscription with my new phone.

The wife and I really enjoyed Lasso and The Morning Show.

As for Mythic Quest, I think you have to be a fan of It's always Sunny to really enjoy it. I enjoyed it, but I didn't even bother trying to get the wife to watch it.

For All Mankind was an excellent show. Probably one of the best shows I watched in 2020. And I watched a lot more shows than unusually do in a year.

Ted Lasso is a lot of fun. One of those ones where you end up smiling when things go right for the character without even realising you?ve kinda fallen for him. (Not THAT kind of fallen for)

Sesaon 2 of Dickinson started, the first 3 came out today.
