2022-2023 NHL trades and signings

I am so confused by this graphic lol

8x7 for a 30-yr old points guy

Kadri got 7x7 for 31-yr old Cup winning centre
Huberdeau got 10.5x8 for 30-yr old playmaker
Gaudreau got 9.75x7 for 28-yr old playmaker

I don?t know why Vancouver thought this was the way to go. The other teams have won conditions or already have a substantial prospect pool.

Vancouver has? a slightly used Demko, Q. Hughes, and Pettersson (and a lot of money in Mikheyev).

Drafted just ahead of Liljegren and traded to Ottawa in the Mark Stone deal. His development looks a bit botched.

Is he really that different from Sandin/Lily?

He has played more games and is smaller. His 5v5 metrics are very meh under similar deployment. DJ Smith prefers bigger defensemen so there hasn?t been overwhelming reason for them to use Brannstrom in the NHL, particularly with Chabot and Sanderson on the left side.

If Dach ever approaches his pre-draft potential, this could be a good deal. That does seem unlikely, though.

Sens banking on him continuing to progress, obviously. Not sure he's earned an 8 year commitment yet, though.

I don't think Stutzle's at that level, but Mitch Marner's group was asking for 8x8 before Tavares arrived...

I think Marner's deal is going to scare a lot of teams off of risking that big third season before an extension.

He was PPG for the second half of last year.  I'm sure they are banking on that kind of progression.  Credit to the Sens for locking up their younger core players....that being said they have also locked into a core that hasn't finished higher than 6th in their division over the last 3 seasons.  Dach is new and Stutzle is just going into his 3rd season but thats a lot of commitment for a team that hasn't done anything yet.

Dach, the hab?

So have we finally reached the point where we can use Nylander?s contract as a measuring stick of what a good contract is the way Bergeron?s was shoved down our throats for years?

It seems to me I can point to many new contracts and point out how ridiculous they are compared to nylander.

Sandin?s range tightens just a little more

Anderson was on a shutdown pairing with Doughty

Edmonton Oilers linked to a PTO for Jake Virtanen.  Edmonton Oilers organization all through Hockey Canada.  Am I surprised?
