I would have liked Monahan at this price for the 3C role. Too bad.

With Nemeth being bought out Joshua Brown is now Arizona's highest paid defenceman with a cap hit of $1.275mil.

The more positive spin on Arizona's moves:

That is a tidy bit of work that whichever city the Coyotes are in in a few years will most certainly appreciate.

I don't understand that move from Nashville at all.  They eat 8M of his last two seasons (50%) and give him away for nothing.

Last year his 28 points in 55 games was disappointing but he had 63 points the year before.  Not really an 8M player but at 4M he probably should have had more value than literally nothing.

Yeah a little surprised that Nashville would retain half, get absolutely nothing in return, AND deal him to a divisional rival.

From a Leafs perspective I would have given up some kind of draft pick for him at $4mil, figure lots of teams would have too. Bizarre.

Was just thinking I'd have done the same deal that Colorado did plus maybe included a small asset

And not just a rival but a recent cup winner. I'd want nothing to do with helping them.

Krug is apparently part of the deal, but not willing to waive his NTC for Philly, so they?re supposedly working on finding a third team to make it work.

I love that NHL teams often get deep, deep into trade negotiations to the point where it's almost ready to be sent to the league for approval before thinking "should we ask this player if he wants to waive his NTC to play for what appears to be the worst team in the league for the next few seasons?".

It probably happens a lot in other sports, too, but it doesn?t seem to get out to the public as frequently.
