2024-25 General Trades and Signings

Kind of a big deal....TBay just got worse defensively but gained cap space...I would not have done it if the end game is to give Stamkos more money.

Interesting turn of events for Tampa. They dumped McDonagh a couple years ago to make room for Sergachev's extension. 2 years later they bring McDonagh back and trade Sergachev away.

Personally, always thought Sergachev was a little overrated. So think they made a good play here. But they also better hope McDonagh doesn't finally start showing his age like they thought he would 2 years ago.

Pretty weird one here for Vegas. Thompson's a capable 1A/1B goalie with just a $766,667 AAV for next season. Who's sharing the net with Hill now?

So trading 6 pieces for Jeannot turned out to be a bad move, who knew?

Wait what on earth happened to Holtz's value?

Ditto for Schmid really too. This time last year he was being considered the goalie of the future in New Jersey.

Schmid was terrible last year and not even good in the minors.

Tomorrow is the deadline for the 1st buyouts correct?

By 5pm, yeah.

I THINK that means if someone would need to go unconditional waivers first (players without NMCs) they would need to have been waived today for a buyout to be possible.

edit: actually nevermind:

They can go 10% ($8.8 mil) over the cap .. until they clear ...

I had expected a few more buyouts by now ..

I'm sure there's some teams out there waiting until the last minute. Pageau is someone rumoured to possibly being bought out and we all know Lou's "if you have time, use it" mantra.

Now the draft is out of the way ...

Strategically, I had wondered whether it is best to leave it until June 30. Someone like Skinner or Pageau for example might be attractive at a lower salary so some buyouts will have GMs scrambling at the last minute to juggle their plans. As we all know, a lot of mistakes happen at this time of year ...
