We go from just 2 road games in a chunk to just 2 home games.

At least it's not all a killer road trip just yet.  Plenty of beatable teams and who knows who will catch the mumps of polio.

Better than being poisoned by the MMR vaccine! Am I right, or am right?

You can all thank Highlander for this last chunk, he predicted 10-0 and wasn't that far off.  Please sage Highlander, another 10-0 call this chunk perhaps?

Why do some act like what the Leafs are doing right now is unprecedented? They went 11-2-1 before the Olympics last year!"

Guess we better go out and by some razerblades and Jimmy Jones coolaid asap.
Never expected much from this season, so a good record right now is great.
However this team has a much better chemistry, Santorelli, Winnek, Komrade, etc. than last year.
No Olympics (that did drain Phil and JVR). I just don't see quit in this team. Kadri and Holland starting to play to potential and of course we have to give a lot of credit to Horachuck and Spott as a stable platform for Captain Quig to run the ship.

That is more vitriol and ire than I would normally allocate to someone who I don't know personally and has never received allegations of crimes against humanity.

I find him to be one of the better, more measured beat writers in mainstream media, as he grounds his arguments in readily available statistics.

Unfortunately I don't want to here all the bad stuff all the time especially when the team is winning. That may just be me.

We already knew the Leafs can beat good teams like the Ducks. It's the next two games against the Canes and Flyers that I'm interested to see. If the Leafs can put those two to bed I'll be thoroughly impressed.

If they don't people will be crying "the sky is falling" all over again.

But, that's when it needs to be heard. By the time teams are losing, it's already too late.

Regardless of where they are in the standings, the Canes tend to always have the Leafs' number so the streak will really be tested on Thursday. The last time the Leafs won in Raleigh was in March 2011 so it's not like getting points from there is going to be an easy task. This year's edition of the Flyers on the other hand are a one-line team who - largely due to that fact - are miserable on road with just 3 wins in 15 games so a loss against them on Saturday at home would be a major surprise.

too late for what? people on message boards taking dumps on the team win or lose don't really effect what the team does

Too late in that those problems are already impacting their performance. Never get too high during a winning streak or too low during a slump. I'm not just talking about people on message boards. People in the organization and on the team read that stuff, too, and they need to hear it. The good ones will obviously already know, but, it can be helpful to know they're not the only ones seeing it. You don't stop being critical just because you're winning games.

one thing for certain, as long as they continue to get outshot constantly we won't always be riding the wave.  Although our possession numbers are up, we need the shots against to go down down down. Can't expect holy goldtending to continue long term

I guess I find it hard to believe that Carlyle gives a damn what mirtle writes...and I don't know if I'd want a coach that would be persuaded by simmons and cox et al.  They have guys internally that are hired and fired for just that kind of thing.  So to me mirtle and their like are for the fans.

well since right now the leafs are winning every single game ..i don't think anyone thinks that will last forever

Well, a good front office would know which media people provide useful analysis and which don't. I would hope the current group would know better than to look at Cox and Simmons as anything more than outdated muckrakers, but, who knows? Other than that, it can be very useful for the guys on the inside to get outside opinions. It helps manage things like observational bias and such. I'm just saying that the critical voice needs to be there regardless of whether or not the team is winning - and, especially when they're winning with the type of play the Leafs have of late.
